The campus covers 600 acres (2.4 km2) of land and is centered in the university town of Manipal. The campus is divided into the health sciences campus and the engineering campus.

Manipal Institute of Technology Campus

The Manipal Institute of Technology Campus is located about 1 km east from the main institute building. Spread over 200 acres, the campus comprises eight academic / research buildings (Academic Blocks 1, 2 and 5; New Lecture Hall Complex (Block 3); Innovation Center (Block 4); the MIT Library; buildings of the School of Communication and the School of Management), 21 halls of residence, three food courts (excluding the two shared by four residence halls), and sports facilities like football, cricket and running fields, two synthetic lawn tennis courts, and an indoor facility for badminton and table tennis.

The Innovation Centre was established in 2007, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Manipal Institute of Technology. It primarily focuses on research and entrepreneurship activities, with a few rooms devoted to academic labs and classrooms.

In October 2016, Dr. GK Prabhu, MIT Director announced a major campus expansion plan that plans to add five more buildings to the campus:

  • The MIT-KEF R&D Center (which will be constructed off-site) for research in Civil Engineering (primarily off-site construction) and Architecture
  • a 'student plaza' at KC that will replace several iconic buildings (basketball court, Student Activity Centre and a 30-year-old building with shops) and serve as the new hub for all social activity
  • MIT Tech Shop, modelled after Hackerspaces that will meet the need for a dedicated space for the ongoing student activities in areas such as robotics, racing (Formula Student), solar and all terrain automobile projects, satellites, UAVs, aeromodelling and rocketry
  • A new food court near the 15th and 16-17th hostel blocks
  • A new hostel block (the 22nd) for female students

Of these new planned buildings, as of July 2017, the food court and the hostel block are in the final stages of completion, the student plaza is in the initial stages of construction, and work is yet to begin on the research centre and the hackerspace.
